CERTIFICATION

  • This is an official American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) BLENDED class. A BLS skills check-off is included with this class at no additional cost.
  • Students are expected to self-study prior to class, in addition to completing two free online modules.
  • All American Heart Association (AHA) certifications are valid through the month which the student takes the class. (If your card says "renew by April", you have until April 30th to renew your card.

1. REGISTER

  • Use the student's EXACT NAME and EMAIL to assign the certification.
  • The student will receive a registration email; please review this email so you understand what preparation is required prior to class.

2. PAYMENT

After registration, you will be taken to a payment page.

3. STUDY

  • This is an advanced course that requires significant investment from the student. Coming to class unprepared may result in not being able to complete the class in the allocated time. If this happens, you will be asked to self-study for two weeks prior to coming to another class.
  • Read your 2020 AHA Provider Manual.
  • BRING YOUR 2020 AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) MANUAL TO CLASS.
  • To see the testing criteria, refer to the appendix of your 2020 Provider Manual.

4. REQUIRED ONLINE WORK FOR ACLS

  1. REQUIRED: AHA ACLS PreCourse Self-Assessment; this unlocks the PreCourse Work/Videos
  2. REQUIRED: AHA ACLS PreCourse Work/Videos. This content is unlocked after successful completion of the PreCourse Self-Assessment (there is no direct URL).
  • Expect to spend about ~4 hours with this online work
  • Remember, this online work is not meant to be the sole method of preparation; students are also expected to study their 2020 Provider Manual. This is an advanced class that requires more than just a few hours of studying.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

1. There is NO online component for your BLS check-off.

5. IN-PERSON SESSION

  • Arrive 10 minutes early to ensure you are not late (doors may lock at the start of class)
  • Students who are prepared for class will finish within the 4 hour class. Download your classroom requirements HERE (refresh the page if it doesn't load).
  • If you are not prepared for class (i.e., if you don't know your rhythms/medications/etc prior to class), you likely will not finish class and will be asked to self-study for two weeks prior to participating in another class.
  • AHA ACLS + BLS certifications issued immediately after successful completion of class.
  • DO NOT COME TO CLASS IF YOU ARE SICK - just ask to reschedule

REMEDIATION

Insufficient self-preparation often results in the need for remediation. If the student is not able to demonstrate proficiency by the AHA standards, the student will not be issued a certification and there will be no refund. The instructor will provide the student a checklist of proficiency criteria that need remediation.

  • The student is expected to self-study for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to attempting another class.
  • The student must re-complete both online components.
  • The student can remediate for free if they are willing to be put on a waiting list (class is capped at 4 students). If they want a guaranteed seat, they will need to resubmit payment.
