Students must demonstrate cognitive understanding and proficiency of all skills. Some students find CPR to be strenuous. In order to obtain certification, AHA requires students to perform a minimum of about one minute (2 cycles) of high-quality CPR on a high-fidelity manikin. Students are allowed to take the manikin to any level they feel comfortable with (i.e., on a table with a step-stool provided or on the ground).
Do not register for class if you have any doubt of your physical abilities to perform CPR. If you are pregnant, have pain (especially of the arms and upper body), or recovering from an injury, please take this into consideration.
