ARRIVAL

CLASS FORMAT and ONLINE REQUIREMENTS

This CPR class is "blended" and consists of a required online component and a required in-person skills session.

REQUIRED ONLINE COMPONENT

An online component will be sent to the registrant’s email within 1 day of registration. The online component must be completed prior to the in-person skills session.

REQUIRED IN-PERSON SKILLS SESSION

It is recommended to arrive 10 minutes early to ensure you are not late. Facility doors may be locked AT the start of class. If you arrive after the doors are locked, you will need to reschedule. Rescheduling fee is $20.

To gain certification, the student is required to perform proficiently at an objective standard. Failure to meet these criteria will mean that the student will not receive a certification of successful completion. Class fees are not refunded when the student does not meet these criteria.

Students are required to perform, at a minimum, 30 high-quality compressions and 2 ventilations with the manikin positioned ON THE FLOOR. Students must demonstrate cognitive understanding and proficiency of all skills. Required skills include identifying cardiac arrest, effective communication, performing a 2 minute high-quality CPR scenario with no assistance, and using an AED trainer safely and correctly. THESE PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT WAIVED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Please keep this in mind if you are suffering from an injury, recovering from surgery, or are currently pregnant.

CERTIFICATION

Certifications are issued immediately after the successful completion of class.

NO AUDITORS/NON-STUDENTS/TODDLERS/INFANTS ALLOWED FOR PUBLIC CLASSES.

• Do not come to class if you are sick or do not feel well. Please ask to reschedule at least 2 hours prior to class.

• ONLY PARTICIPATING/PAYING STUDENTS ALLOWED IN CLASSROOM. Do not bring your child(ren) unless they are considered student(s).

• Class run-times are approximate and can vary based on class size and student proficiency. Most students are able to complete class in approximately 3 hours. However, AHA states these classes be allocated 4.5 hours to allow additional time for students who need remediation. Students are allowed to take the manikin to any level they feel comfortable with (i.e., on a table with a step-stool provided or on the ground).

Do not register for class if you have any doubt of your physical abilities to perform CPR. If you are pregnant, have pain (especially of the arms and upper body), or recovering from an injury, please take this into consideration. The physical requirements of CPR are not waived under any circumstances.

This is an intensive class. Insufficient self-preparation often results in the need for remediation. If the student is not able to demonstrate proficiency by the AHA standards, the student will not be issued a certification and there will be no refund.

• The student must re-complete both online components.

• The student can remediate for free if they are willing to be put on a waiting list (class is capped at 4 students). If they want a guaranteed seat, they will need to resubmit payment.

3. Access your certificate by logging into your elearning account at https://elearning.heart.org.

4. Email a copy of your certificate to CPRmobile.me@gmail.com.

Remember, the online work is not meant to be the sole method of preparation; students are also expected to review their 2020 Provider Manual. This is an advanced class that requires more than just a few hours of studying.

5. IN-PERSON SESSION

• Bring your 2020 AHA PALS Provider Manual.

• A quote will be provided and the company will be invoiced after class according to the number of students present.

• Class fee reflects students present, not the number of certifications issued. Please ensure all participants are able to fulfill performance requirements, below.

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS

Be sure all participants are able to fulfill the physical and cognitive training requirements required by the American Heart Association (AHA). Certifications are not issued for students unable or unwilling to perform to these standards.

This class is for anyone and everyone!

This is a wonderful educational and engaging class that allows students to practice all of the skills that would be part of a certification-level test. However, no certifications are issued because student engagement is not required and is not tested. These educational videos are developed by American Heart Association (AHA).

Students will receive a booklet to review all the information covered in class, as well as a keychain face shield.

Did you know...

You don't need to be certified to perform CPR/AED? These are considered lay-responder (good samaritan) skills. Certifications are typically required if you are a medical professional or if you want to verify your skills competence.
