This class is blended and requires an online component prior to the in-person skills portion.

- Students will receive an automated "Class Details" email shortly after registration. Please review this email thoroughly immediately to ensure you are prepared for class. The email will contain a link to start the TWO required free online components (listed below).
- Complete the AHA PALS PreCourse Self-Assessment.
- Complete the AHA PALS PreCourse Work/Videos/Preparation. There is no direct URL for this component; it is unlocked when you complete the Self-Assessment.
- Expect to spend 4 hours with the online work.
- Screenshot/print your certificate of completion titled "PreCourse Preparation"
Remember, the online work is not meant to be the sole method of preparation; students are also expected to study their 2020 Provider Manual. This is an advanced class that requires more than just a few hours of studying.

Regardless of the student's actual scope of practice, to gain certification students must demonstrate individual proficiency in the following topics:
- TEAM LEADER: Successful team leader during a resuscitation attempt
- TEAM MEMBER: Successful team member during a resuscitation attempt
- STABLE BRADYCARDIA: Recognition and management of stable bradycardia
- UNSTABLE BRADYCARDIA: Recognition and management of unstable bradycardia, including transcutaneous pacing
- STABLE TACHYCARDIA: Recognition and management of stable tachycardia
- UNSTABLE TACHYCARDIA: Recognition and management of unstable tachycardia, including synchronized cardioversion
- CARDIAC ARREST: Recognition and management of Cardiac Arrest
- ROSC: Recognition and management of ROSC
- RESPIRATORY FAILURE: Recognition and management of Respiratory Failure
- RESPIRATORY ARREST: Recognition and management of Respiratory Arrest
- STEMI: Recognition and management of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) due to a STEMI; recognize a STEMI on an EKG.
- MANUAL DEFIBRILLATION: Rapid manual defibrillation for shockable rhythms. Focus on rapidly identifying and differentiating between Ventricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Fibrillation, Torsades de Pointes, PEA, and Asystole
- MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION: Pharmacological interventions. Focus on epinephrine, lidocaine, amiodarone, adenosine, and atropine. Know your bolus and infusion dosages and rates, indications, and contraindications
- AIRWAY MANAGEMENT: Basic Airway Management (NPA/OPA/BVM): state indications, contraindications, and demonstrate correct insertion
- INTRAVASCULAR/INTRAOSSEOUS ACCESS: state indications, contraindications, and demonstrate correct insertion
- EXAM: Score >84% on a 50 question exam
